Succubus Revealed

Title: Succubus Revealed
Author: Richelle Mead
Series: Georgina Kincaid (Book 6)
Genre: Paranormal

Georgina and Seth are working on their relationship and rationing sex. Everything seems to be going pretty well until Georgina finds out she's being transferred to Las Vegas. It seems like a Succubus's dream, but not Georgina's.

She goes and checks it out and everything seems perfect. Seth even wants to move with her, but then his sister has cancer and seems to be doing very poorly. Georgina doesn't want to let him leave her family alone.

And then things start to not add up. Georgina's paranormal group of friends are thinking about how something is not right. Georgina's transfer seems to be a way to keep her and Seth apart. It's time to try and think about the contracts again. Through some past life regression, Georgina and her friends find some very interesting information.

Quite an end to the series. I did feel as if it were a little far fetched (although apparently, making deals with Hell is not?) but enjoyed it just the same. Everything is wrapped up and ended on a perfect note.

Spell Bound

Title: Spell Bound
Author: Kelley Armstrong
Genre: Paranormal
Series: Women of the Otherworld (Book 12)

I recently finished reading this book, and couldn't even explain what it was about. It was a book full of fluff.

At the end of Waking the Witch, the cliffhanger was that Savannah has lost her powers. Well, at the end of Spell Bound, she still has no powers. The other characters of the stories that we know and love don't make much of a showing (just Adam). Adam and Savannah's relationship doesn't move forward past friends.

Throughout the story Savannah is looking for who took her powers and how to get them back...she doesn't really get any information regarding this. She does learn that there is a group of paranormals who want to be able to be out in the open. They briefly kidnap her...but there still isn't much that develops from that.

Hopefully this fluff will be rounded out with a great next book.

Intertwined

Title: Intertwined
Author: Gena Showalter
Series: Intertwined (Book 1)
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal

Aden has led a rough life, bouncing from foster home to mental institution to being homeless and back around. This is all due to the four souls living in his mind with him. He's not crazy, but try to tell that to someone after you told them you hear the voices of 3 other people.

He finally seems to be in a good place, a ranch for troubled teens and has gotten the opportunity to go to a public school as well. Have I mentioned that each of the four souls have their own ability: Time Travel, Raising the Dead, Possession and Prophecy.

His good place starts to turn on it's head when he meets a Vampire, Shape Shifter, Witches and all other sorts of creatures that say he has called them. Time to figure things out.

I've always loved this author's other books and finally decided to check out her young adult fiction as well. The stories really remind of me of Kelley Armstrong's young adult series.

I really like the way this series has started out, and never saw the connection to one of the ghosts coming. I had my guesses (are they siblings?) but none of them really panned out.

The Gathering

Title: The Gathering
Author: Kelley Armstrong
Series: Darkness Rising (Book 1)
Genre: Young Adult

I can't believe I didn't read a single book for the month of May, I don't believe that has ever happened to me before. I just felt like there was nothing I really wanted to read. I was in a slump. But back on track.

The Gathering is the first book of new Trilogy Darkness Rising, it is connected to the Darkest Powers Series. It is the same world, but in The Gathering we are introduced to all new characters.

Maya lives in a small town which is a bit odd. There are less then 200 people in the town, everyone knows everyone and they are not even found on a map. The town was founded and is continued to be populated by a company: The Edison Group.

Everyone has something special about them. Maya is really good with animals, her best friend gets "vibes" about people. All the students are required to be part of something extra curricular, and they are all good at something.

New to the town Rafe, takes an interest in Maya and the two start getting closer as the town seems to start getting more weird.

I love Kelley Armstrong's worlds and was trying my best to figure out what was going to happen throughout the book. I had several good ideas that panned out, but also a few things that threw me through a loop. I have my suspicions on what may be happening in the next book in the series, and can't wait for it's release so I can confirm or dismiss my suspicions.

Awakened

Title: Awakened
Author: P.C. and Kristin Cast
Series: House of Night (Book 8)
Genre: Young Adult

Zoey is back to the real world, well a version of it. She and Stark are living on the isle and don't want to go back to the House of Night.

Back at the House of Night, things are happening with Neferet, Kalona, Steve Rae and the gang.

More mediocrity. This series was phenomenal at first, but has seemed to level out to bland. I'd say that this book was better then the last, and hopefully the series will continue to pick it's momentum back up.

**Slight Spoiler** A main character dies, and I didn't even shed a tear and I've always loved this character. I just didn't feel the connection in this book.

But they seem to keep writing them - Destined is being released November 2011.

A Movie is also suppose to be released sometime this year.

Dreamfever

Title: Dreamfever
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Series: Fever (Book 4)
Genre: Paranormal

I've only read Dreamfever once before, and you can read that here.

This book (and series in general) has left me with so many unanswered questions. While reading through the series, I realized just how many unanswered questions. There are questions from the first book that we are told we'll find out later - and it's later and I still don't know the answer.

But here we go - Shadowfever is sitting next to me. It's almost 600 pages long and has a beautiful cover. It's time to answer some questions - namely: Who is the beast? What is Barrons? What is up with Mac and the Prophecies? Will Mac and Barrons get some sort of Happily Ever After?

Faefever

Title: Faefever
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Series: Fever (Book 3)
Genre: Paranormal

You can read about the first time I read Faefever here and the second time here.

Faefever fills in many blanks. This book of the series seems to answer a lot of questions and brings in a lot of information about the characters (but unfortunately, not Barrons) and the Fae stories. I felt like while I was rereading this, my eyes were opened once again. With the exception of the ending of Dreamfever and Mac's battle against becoming Pri-ya, I don't remember much of the story line.

I still feel like this is on a different level then the first two. Much like the Harry Potter series, that got dark and serious quite fast, Faefever does the same thing for the Fever series.

For some odd reason, I feel like I love Barrons way more this time around. Maybe because I've been doing my best to envision him the way he is portrayed instead of my own twisted way - and is he Hot.

Play of Passion

Title: Play of Passion
Author: Nalini Singh
Series: Psy-Changling (Book 9)
Genre: Paranormal

Indigo is a strong independent woman and a lieutenant of the SnowDancer pack. She is the most dominant female of the pack, and just 2 steps down from the alpha. Being such a strong dominant, she has some issues with mating and dominance. She always thought that she would fall for a guy who was more dominant or about the same level as she. Her partner in many pack dealings, Drew, seems to get under her skin. She allows him the general pack skin privileges, but eventually he starts to take things further. Indigo seems to enjoy it, but is conflicted on the stance of dominance.

Andrew, Drew is the pack's tracker. He embodies a carefree attitude and seems to be on good terms with the entire pack. He's a bit of a playboy when it comes to the ladies, but it seems that he remains on good terms with them all, even after the fact. Drew doesn't really fall anywhere in the dominance line up. He is a dominant male, yet because he is a tracker he doesn't fit in the line-up with the lieutenants. This is what confuses Indigo so much. She doesn't have much of a chance against Drew, who pours on the charm. He has had feelings for her his entire life, and now is finally acting on them.

The two's relationship is all over the place while they learn what works for them. In the midst of it all, the Psy-Changeling war continues with the Psy becoming more involved and almost pulling the wool over the Changelings' eyes in their own territory.

I just realized that somehow I missed Book 8, Bonds of Justice. It doesn't seem to matter to this book, although I have intentions of reading Bonds of Justice next.

As usual these books are steamy. The characters seem to three dimensional and I can connect with them on many levels. I enjoyed the fact that the war seem to take a real backseat to this story and that's how I like it.

Unlike some past books, I did feel like Indigo's issues regarding dominance and Drew really did come up. He stepped over her and got her reprimanded by alpha Hawke and had to then try and convince her that he wouldn't do it again. Her problems didn't just magically disappear, but it appeared more that they worked on them.

Hawke's story is finally being shared. I cannot wait to see things between him and Sienna come to head. Interesting that it is being released as a hardcover. I guess he's alpha, what else would I expect?

Chains of Fire

Title: Chains of Fire
Author: Christina Dodd
Series: The Chosen Ones (Book 4)
Genre: Paranormal

Samuel Faa is one of the Chosen Ones, a Mind Controller and an impressive lawyer. He has had a rough childhood with a butler for an adoptive Dad, who thinks Samuel cannot rise above that station in life.

Isabelle Mason, another Chosen One and a healer, is the adoptive daughter of a wealthy family who just happens to have Samuel's Dad as a butler.

Isabelle and Samuel have had an attraction since they met at the ages of four and five. They've dated twice and both times ended less then amicably. That said, there is always a tension between the two of them now that they are Chosen together. Their lives are woven together between their families and work and they are often thrown together.

The two go off to save an kidnapped abandoned child and after saving the child are caught together in an avalanche, narrowly escaping. They are trapped in a tomb like basement due to the avalanche, and old feelings run high.

Another intriguing addition to the Chosen Ones series. I enjoyed seeing the characters just give in to each other, although I really felt like the two of them should have gotten their marks and enhanced powers before they did. I think that the meeting with Osgood was kind of a cop-out for their greatest fear.

Stroke of Enticement

Title: Stoke of Enticement
Author: Nalini Singh
Series: Psy-Changling (Book 4.5)
Genre: Paranormal

Zach, a DarkRiver sentinel, has to pick up his nephew at school. His nephew hit another student at school because they had said something mean about his teacher, Annie. When Zach walks in the classroom he is immediately attracted to Annie.

When Annie was younger her leg was shattered, which has left her with a slight limp and different sorts of emotional issues. Zach talks her into going on a tour of the Pack lands and the two quickly spend all their time together.

There is a little blip when Annie appears not to be accepting the Mate bond because she is afraid. Her parents use to be madly in love, but now her father all but ignores her mother. Annie does not want a life like this for herself. A short conversation later, however, and the bond is made and she knows that she is safe.

This was a short story found in The Magical Christmas Cat. There are 3 other stories, although none of them are by any authors that I've heard of.

This story was short and sweet. I picked up this book in the dollar bin at my local bookstore, knowing that there was a Psy-Changeling story in it. One thing I always dislike about the short stories is that they have little substance to them and hardly much of a conflict. You barely seem to get to know the characters and their story is over.

Aside form that, the story was adorable and I have always loved the fierce protection offered by Changelings to their mates.

The Fledgling Handbook 101

Title: The Fledgling Handbook 101
Author: P.C. Cast
Series: House of Night (Extra)
Genre: Young Adult

I was anticipating a little bit of behind the scenes House of Night information. A book that would fill us in on anything that was maybe a subtlety in the books that had been missed. I was quite wrong.

The Fledgling Handbook starts with an Introduction and then is broken up into 5 "chapters," each giving you different types of information.

The Introduction was my favorite part. It gave pictures of each of the emblems that the different formers wear as well as a little information of what they mean. Since this has been discussed before in the books, I found these pictures and information helpful. There was also a tentative schedule of what a day looks like at the HON.

1) Vampyre Biology - This chapter included some pictures of before and after being marked as well as after the change. I thought this too was interesting, seeing the differences that come about as they change into a vampyre. It also touches on Imprinting and the Warrior Bond. Unfortunately, it was downhill from here.

2) Rituals - Each ritual starts with a story about where the ritual came from followed by a description of how to do the ritual. Since I have no desire to preform any of these anytime soon, I really didn't care for this section.

3) Nightkind Elementology - Holidays that are observed at the HON and a Vampyre twist on astrology (Nightkind Elementology) You pick your element based on when you changed. It was okay to read, but unlike astrology, there wasn't one for me to look for.

4) A Brief Intorducion to Vampyre History - If this was brief, I'd hate to see extensive. This was a lot of fairly dry history. I'm not a history girl and this chapter was the worst for me.

5) Words of Hope from Fellow Fledglings - A kind of funny chapter. There are quotes from famous people, such as Shakespeare, as well as pictures of the speaker with their crescent and tattoos.

This book started off strong, but was sorely lacking. It really could have had nothing to do with the House of Night and seems like it will be for only the most die hard fans.
